Nottingham Forest 1 – 0 Manchester City

West Coast fans of anyone not wearing sky blue (and there are many of us) awoke to a pleasant surprise Saturday morning. Seeing a scoreline like this is better than a double-shot of espresso. Frankly, I’d’ve been content with a draw, but Callum Hudson-Odoi had different plans. Having been denied once by Ederson targeting the far post, when he faced-up a second time he took the inside line and beat the Brazilian. The cross-field feed from Morgan Gibbs-White was spot-on. City was bereft of, well, nearly everything. Another limp effort from the rapidly aging has-beens.

Brighton & Hove Albion 2 – 1 Fulham

Don’t look in that rear-view mirror, Cityzens. The Seagulls look primed to swoop down on Manchester City like a scene out of Hitchcock’s The Birds and pluck their fifth place position. Fulham certainly felt sh@t on after conceding a ‘90+7th minute penalty kick that João Pedro paced past Bernd Leno.

Crystal Palace 1 – 0 Ipswich Town

Not gonna lie… Palace were kinda crap in this match. Eberechi Eze could’ve had the goal of the season with his chest-thigh-foot combo, only to shank it well wide. Numerous other chances were wasted as well until one moment of pure skill from Ismaïla Sarr, who deftly chipped over the Ipswich keeper in the 82nd minute. Eagles fans will take it.

Liverpool 3 – 1 Southampton

Don’t let the scoreline fool you… Liverpool got away with this one. They were far from decent, and downright stinky at times. But the Reds, not at their best, are still better than Southampton. And when you give a ruthless penalty taker like Mohamed Salah two chances, you know he’ll bury them.

Brentford 0 – 1 Aston Villa

Ollie Watkins delivered on his old stomping grounds, belting a shot through traffic and past Marc Flekken. This was a sparky fixture and without some good goalkeeping would have delivered a higher scoreline.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 1 – 1 Everton

Back in 2024 my report on this would probably read: “Everton happy to tie; Wolves bummed at lost opportunity.” Well, it’s 2025 and with Wolverhampton in a relegation scrap, and Everton resurgent after the appointment of David Moyes, the script is flipped. Wolverhampton create a little more space between the bottom three and Everton… well, it’s not a loss, right?

Chelsea 1 – 0 Leicester

Can somebody perform a wellness check on Cole Palmer? That PK he took was simply awful, and Mads Hermansen made an easy save. If it wasn’t for Marc Cucurella, Enzo Maresca would’ve had to answer some serious questions in the post match interview. As it stands, a Champions League slot still lies within reach.

Tottenham Hotspur 2 – 2 Bournemouth

Had Vicario not been sharp seconds after the opening whistle, three points might have been Bournemouth’s. Romario made a howler of a pass into Evanilson, who took it off his chest and made a fine shot, only to be denied by the Spaniard’s last second hand. You have to give Spurs some credit. Despite a nightmarish first half and being down two in the 64th they rallied to claw back a point. Maybe there’s a kernel of pride in this squad.

Manchester United 1 – 1 Arsenal

From scoring seven against a woeful PSV mid-week, Arsenal came into no-longer-scary Old Trafford and… blew it. That free kick from Bruno Fernandes was pure quality, something Red Devils supporters have seen precious little of this season. Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui all had excellent chances denied by David Raya. Gunners fans should thankful their $100,000,000 man Declan Rice came through with a late goal to salvage a point, but the League race is over, folks.

West Ham United 0 – 1 Newcastle United

This was a dull affair. I didn’t hear the softest of noises emerging from the home crowd in the second half, as the horrific realization that the game was not going to get any better sank in.
