Paris Saint-Germain are close to securing a deal for FC Krasnodar’s goalkeeper Matvei Safonov (25) according to Fabrizio Romano.

Les Parisiens have been in the market for a goalkeeper to provide some competition for Gianluigi Donnarumma (25) with the club heavily linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel (26) and Lille OSC’s Lucas Chevalier (22).

However, it seems that PSG believe Safonov may be the answer to the club’s search and are reportedly willing to spend €20 million on the highly-rated Russian. Talks are progressing well between Krasnodar and the French champions, although Romano writes that there are still details to work out before they can seal the deal.

How this will impact Donnarumma’s position as the undisputed number one for PSG is not yet known. Luis Enrique has publicly supported the Italian goalkeeper, but there have been a number of high-profile mistakes that have littered Donnarumma’s stay in the capital.
