Paris Saint-Germain defender Milan Skriniar (29) has thanked the club’s medical staff following his return to fitness from an ankle injury that had kept him out of action since January.

The Slovakian played the final 13 minutes of last night’s Classique at Stade Vélodrome, replacing Warren Zaire-Emery as the Parisians ground out a 2-0 victory in a hostile atmosphere after going down to 10 men through a Beraldo red card five minutes before the end of the first half.

” This is a big victory for us. It has been very difficult for me over the last few months, these last 3 months, but I’m finally back with the team. We had to work very hard, I certainly worked very hard, and I am extremely thankful to all of the medical staff at PSG. They really helped me and I worked hard to come back, so it’s a good evening for us tonight. It was difficult, especially after the red card, but the team played well and defended magnificently, sometimes you have to play like that, you have to have these difficult matches and of course we can learn and get better following this match, especially in defence. In this respect, today has been excellent for us.”

This victory comes at the start of a huge few weeks for Luis Enrique’s side, as they host Stade Rennais in the Coupe de France semi-final on Wednesday, followed by a home league encounter with Clermont Foot on Saturday night ahead of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final encounter with FC Barcelona at Parc des Princes next Wednesday.
