PSV supporters apologise to Marko Dmitrović after Europa League incident | OneFootball

Sevilla’s game in Eindhoven last Thursday saw the club secure an aggregate 3-2 victory over PSV to advance to the next stage of the Europa League. However, the occasion was marred by a pitch invader, who tried to attack goalkeeper Marko Dmitrović.

As reported by Marca, the aggressor was a 20-year-old with a history of football-related crimes and misdemeanors. Dmitrović subdued the trespasser until security reacted and escorted him out.

After the nasty incident, a PSV fan association, Supportersvereniging PSV, took the initiative to make it up to the Serbian goalkeeper. In a touching act, they sent a bouquet of flowers with a hand-written note to Sevilla, expressing their concern for his well-being, apologising on behalf of the PSV supporters, and wishing him luck on the rest of the Europa League campaign.

Dmitrović replied on Twitter a few days later, confirming he had received the thoughtful gift. He also sent out a message expressing his gratitude and reinforcing the sentiment that football is about respect and unity.

“A single person cannot stain a club as important and respected as PSV and a city that will always be as special for Sevilla fans as Eindhoven,” ended the goalkeeper’s note.
