One former Premier League player turned pundit has said that a current Chelsea player would be top of the Premier League’s most improved player list.
There actually isn’t a list, but perhaps this pundit should make one. Either way, he is saying that a Chelsea player would be top of the list if it was made, compared to how they were last season.
Sometimes players arrive at clubs and find it tough to adapt, or they just take a bit of time to get used to the pressure of the club, especially when it is such a big club like Chelsea.
Nicolas Jackson took some time to settle in and probably found it difficult leading the line at a big club like Chelsea after arriving there as an inexperienced and raw player. He’s also never had any real competition to push him for his spot.
Jackson struggled to begin with and was being criticised a lot by the media and even Chelsea fans. He started to grow in confidence and became a bit better, and this season he has pushed on a lot and is coming up with some decent scoring numbers.
Jackson has improved his game
Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, who is now a pundit for ESPN, has been praising Jackson this week.
He thinks that the 23-year-old striker has really stepped his game up in the last few months. In fact, he may be the most improved player across the entire Premier League.
Hislop told ESPN: “If we did a most improved Premier League list, Nicolas Jackson would probably be top of it. Given his struggles last season, I wondered if he’d be able to make the grade in a league like this.
“All of a sudden, what we’ve been seeing from Nicolas Jackson under Maresca for Chelsea has been absolutely revealing. Everything about Nicolas Jackson’s game has improved.”
