All the latest headlines surrounding QPR
QPR will be aiming to make improvements to their first team squad this summer after coming 18th in the Championship table.
The London club narrowly escaped relegation to League One under Martí Cifuentes last season.
The Spaniard took over the side in October, with the team sitting inside the bottom three but he oversaw an impressive rise out of relegation trouble in 2024.
QPR won 13 of their 33 games under Cifuentes last term, with the 41-year-old earning a win percentage rate of 39.39.
He will now be hoping to build a team capable of competing at a higher level in the Championship in the upcoming campaign.
The transfer window is open until 30 August, giving the club ample time to find fresh faces to come into the squad.
Here we look at all the latest headlines surrounding QPR…
Chris Willock’s contract at QPR expired at the end of June, with his future at the club now uncertain.
However, according to The Athletic, positive talks have been held between both parties about potentially extending his stay at Loftus Road.
The 26-year-old contributed four goals and four assists from 39 appearances in the Championship last season (all stats from Fbref).
The winger has been with the club since 2020, joining from Benfica in a deal worth a reported £750,000, making a total of 140 league appearances for Rangers during that time.
It is believed that he wants to remain with the club beyond his current deal, but no agreement has yet been reached on fresh terms.
According to West London Sport, QPR are eyeing a move for Bayern Munich’s Liam Morrison.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Wigan Athletic, where he made 30 league appearances.
The defender has been unable to break into the first team squad of the German giants since joining from Celtic at the age of just 16.
It remains to be seen whether a deal can be agreed with the Bundesliga outfit, who could send him out on loan again or look to cash in on him on a permanent basis.
QPR are also hoping to seal a move for Estrela’s Hevertton Santos, who is a free agent this summer after his contract with the Portuguese side expired.
Watford are eyeing a move for QPR’s Kenneth Paal this summer, according to West London Sport.
The full-back has just 12 months remaining on his current contract, with the Hornets looking to exploit the situation by attempting a transfer, as they seek a replacement for Jamal Lewis after his return to Newcastle United at the end of the season.
However, it is understood that the Hoops have offered the 27-year-old an extension to commit his future to the club.
But if an agreement cannot be found, then the Championship side may consider a sale in order to avoid losing him for nothing in 2025.
Paal has been an important player under Cifuentes, and has made 84 appearances in the league in total across his two campaigns with QPR, contributing five goals and four assists.
