QPR youngster Ashley Trujillo is on the radar of Aston Villa, West Ham and Fulham.
Queens Park Rangers face a battle to retain exciting youngster Ashley Trujillo, as a host of Premier League clubs monitor the attacker.
The 16-year-old is yet to make his senior debut for the R’s, but he is highly-rated by the Championship club, having impressed at youth level.
As well as that, Trujillo also contributed to Colombia as they reached the South American U17 Championship final before losing to Brazil.
And, his displays at youth level don’t appear to have gone unnoticed, as Football Insider has revealed that Aston Villa, Fulham and West Ham are all keeping tabs on the teenager.
They explain that the three clubs are all interested in Trujillo, with his versatility mentioned as a factor, as he is capable of playing in a central attacking role or down either flank.
It’s unclear whether they will firm up that interest with an offer, although, as Trujillo is only 16, he has yet to sign a professional contract with QPR.
Therefore, the R’s won’t be able to stand in his way if the player wants to move on, and whilst they will be entitled to compensation, it’s unlikely to be a substantial sum.
Of course, there’s a lot going on at QPR right now, with manager Marti Cifuentes placed on gardening leave.
So, the priority is going to be appointing a new boss when the campaign finishes, and the club will also have to address some of the issues that are believed to have contributed to Cifuentes’ unhappiness at Loftus Road.
As well as that, the club won’t want to lose talented players like Trujillo, as the academy is a very important part of QPR.
They will rightly be proud of how they have developed and improved over recent years, with Eberechi Eze the standout individual to have come through the ranks, even if he joined in his late teens.
QPR will hope that their history of giving younger players an opportunity will convince Trujillo he is best served by staying at the club, but it can be difficult to turn down Premier League interest, especially at that age, as you dream of playing at the highest level possible.
Ultimately, this will be one to monitor, and it would be a major frustration for QPR if they did lose one of the more exciting talents coming through right now.
