Quentin Merlin (21) is growing frustrated by the delays in his prospective transfer to Olympique de Marseille, and in a desperate move to force his exit, he has declared himself unavailable to face Stade de Reims on Sunday, according to Ouest-France.

The dominoes are yet to fall. FC Nantes will only sanction Merlin’s €12m move in the event that a replacement can be found. A deal to sign RC Lens’ Massadio Haïdara is close, with an agreement on a €1.5m fee agreed upon. However, with Les Sang et Or also cutting short Faitout Maoussa’s loan, and with Deiver Machado only just recovering from surgery, Franck Haise’s side themselves want to sign a replacement before sanctioning Haïdara’s move.

Merlin’s future is therefore in limbo. The France U21 international is unhappy with the situation and is desperate to make the move to Marseille. He has therefore declared himself unavailable to face Reims.
