Schalke have completed the signing of Rabbi Matondo from Manchester City.
The Bundesliga club confirmed the deal on Wednesday afternoon, signing the youngster on a deal until 2023.
According to reports, Schalke will pay the Premier League champions around £10m (€11.5m) for Matondo.
The 18-year-old joined Man City from Cardiff in 2016 but never made an appearance for the club’s first team.
He did, however, makes his Wales debut last year.
“We have been interested in Rabbi for a long time, because we are impressed with his potential,” said Schalke head coach Domenico Tedesco.
“He is extremely quick and technically strong. We can’t forget how young he is though. We will give him the time he needs to find his feet at Schalke and in the Bundesliga.”
The club’s official website also has quotes from the player.
“Before coming here I already knew a bit about Schalke 04: Mesut Özil, Ivan Rakitic and Leroy Sané all took big steps in their careers here,” said the teenager.
“As well as that, I had some good chats with the coach and my new team-mates only had good things to say.
“The Bundesliga is a great league too. Schalke 04 is the right decision for my career and I’m happy to now be a part of this club and their future plans.”
Matondo will wear the number 14 shirt and could face his former club next month, when Schalke meet Man City in the Champions League.
