He underwent medical tests on Saturday morning, and according to TMW and other Italian sources, the Portuguese examinations highlighted an elongation of the flexor in his left thigh.
Leao will undergo a new MRI scan next week.
This means he’s in serious doubt for the Rossoneri’s last game of the year against Roma at San Siro on December 29.
According to Calciomercato.com, Leao will surely miss the Roma game next week and could also be ruled out of the Supercoppa semifinal against Juventus on January 3.
After the Verona game last night, Milan coach Paulo Fonseca said Leao’s injury was “not serious.”
The Portuguese tactician is currently without nine first-team players, but Ismael Bennacer returned to group training this morning and is expected to be available against Roma next weekend.
Leao is Milan’s highest earner and has six goals and six assists in 22 appearances across all competitions this season.
