Rangers defeated Hearts 2-0 at Hampden Park to set up a Scottish Cup final against Celtic.
Scorers: Dessers 5âČ, 78âČ
Rangers took the lead after just five minutes after Hearts made a mess of things at the back. Todd Cantwell found Cyriel Dessers and the Nigerian forward showed great feet before firing past Craig Gordon.
Hearts struggled to get into the game for most of the first half, with Gers winger Ross McCausland being a thorn in their side at times but no one could get on the end of one of his best balls into the box among other chances.
Philippe Clementâs side looked much more like their old selves and less like the team who lost to Ross County and drew with Dundee in their last two league games.
Their failure to get a second though gave Hearts a chance and in the second half, they stepped things up with Kenneth Vargas fizzing a dangerous ball into the box and Dexter Lembikisa providing an impetus off the bench.
Lawrence Shankland had the Jambosâ best chance with 20 minutes to go but his back-post header hit the side netting when he simply had to test Jack Butland in goal.
That miss would come back to haunt his side soon after when Dessers got his and Rangersâs second. Again, Cantwell was the creator and, again, Dessers was the goalscorer, finishing at the second attempt following Gordonâs save.
With the game more or less over as a contest, the remaining 12 minutes plus added time were played out with relative ease as Rangers sealed a second domestic cup final appearance this season.
They will now face their old rivals looking to clinch a cup double.
