Rangers Fans Explode with Fury as Raskin ‘Goal’ Denied at Easter Road

Rangers fans are absolutely furious this afternoon after Nico Raskin was controversially denied what looked a clear goal at Easter Road. The Belgian midfielder thought he’d opened his account for the match when he squeezed the ball under Hibs keeper Jordan Smith shortly before half-time. It looked to have crossed the line before Rocky Bushiri scrambled it away, but the officials waved play on and no goal was given.
The moment sparked outrage in the away end. Rangers had already taken the lead through Cyriel Dessers after a slick move, and Raskin’s effort would have doubled it and put Barry Ferguson’s side firmly in control. Instead, just moments later, Hibs went up the park and equalised through Kieron Bowie, rubbing salt in the wounds.
Supporters have taken to social media in droves to vent their fury, demanding answers over the continued absence of goal-line technology in Scottish football. It’s the sort of incident that simply shouldn’t be happening in a top-flight match, and the lack of any review system left fans seething at the injustice, even if the Belgian did score in the second half anyway.
There’s growing unrest over the standard of officiating in this league, and this latest decision only adds to the list of grievances Rangers fans have had to swallow this season. It’s not the first time the club has suffered from baffling decisions, and there’s a real sense now that these things are costing the team big moments.
Barry Ferguson’s changes to the starting lineup today, including bringing in Kasanwirjo, had looked positive in the early stages. But the sense of injustice from the disallowed goal has hung over the match since, shifting the momentum at a key point.
This incident joins the growing chorus of anger over officiating standards in the Premiership—and the debate about bringing in proper technology will only intensify from here.
With Ferguson not expected to take the job permanently, his short reign is already having to weather storms from decisions that shouldn’t even be in question. Today’s no-goal call on Raskin is just the latest in a long list.
