Rangers note ‘Sporting Integrity’ as Kilmarnock to request postponement | OneFootball

We have to say we would love it if the SFA and SPFL agree to Kilmarnock’s request to postpone their match v Aberdeen to prepare them for Copenhagen in the Conference League.

The SFA and SPFL should 100% support our sides in European football, and endeavour to help a team like Killie overcome a strong outfit like the Danish giants, because, as we know, the Ukrainian FA bent over backwards to help Dynamo Kyiv and postpone their season opener in advance of facing Rangers.

Which is, of course, what the powers-that-be have NEVER done for Rangers.

Now, in fairness, we understand that in recent seasons Rangers have rejected the chance to ask, with the only request ever made being the nonsense of moving the Motherwell match prior to Sevilla back a day – as opposed to completely postponing it.

That was granted, with a tonne of fanfare from Donkey boy about how important it was to help Scottish sides in Europe.

We do of course hark back to 2008 and Sporting Integrity FC, when every single obstacle was put in Rangers’ way in a shameless and spiteful attempt by SIFC to ensure we had no chance of winning in Manchester. Lawwell really did outdo himself, with pettiness and gallery-playing the order of the day.

That will sit with Rangers forever, one of the most shabby acts in Scottish football history, purely to hurt another team and a bewildering act of cutting your nose off to spite your face. Think of the coefficient had Rangers won that one.

So we’d like to think a lesson or two was learned, maybe.

We want Killie to get their postponement, even though they’ve not requested it yet – we need some clubs to get coefficient points again for Scotland and potentially restore Scotland’s automatic Champions League spot, or maybe even two in future.

Only way that happens is if our sides earn points in Europe, and Killie should be given every chance to make that happen.

Pity Rangers weren’t granted the same courtesy.
