Rangers owe Barry Ferguson an answer

Barry Ferguson deserves an answer, and he deserves it now. Rangers have left the club legend hanging for far too long about whether or not he’s going to be given the permanent manager’s job, and frankly, it’s unfair.
Let’s cut to the chase. Ferguson stepped into the breach after Philippe Clement was punted out the door, and while it’s not been a smooth ride, he’s certainly put his heart and soul into the task. Has it been perfect? Absolutely not. There have been some good moments, like the gutsy Europa League performance against Fenerbahce and beating Celtic at Parkhead. But there have also been serious question marks over his consistency, especially at home where performances have frustrated supporters far too often.
But that’s not the issue here. Ferguson’s openly declared he wants the gig full-time—he’s practically been on a personal PR campaign, touting himself at every opportunity. It’s clear how much this means to him. He’s Rangers through and through, but the silence from the Ibrox boardroom is deafening.
The new owners coming in from 49ers Enterprises complicates things slightly, we get that. Maybe they have different ideas. Maybe they want a big-name manager from abroad or someone completely fresh to take Rangers forward. But leaving Ferguson twisting in the wind is disrespectful to a man who has given everything to this club, both as a player and now as interim boss.
Whatever the board’s decision, Rangers owe Ferguson the respect of clarity. If he’s not their man, tell him now and let him move on. If he is, back him and give him the tools to succeed. The club can’t afford to drift aimlessly, especially with big decisions needed on transfers, contracts, and pre-season preparations.
Make no mistake, clarity is needed urgently. It’s time Rangers showed Ferguson the respect he’s earned by making their stance clear. Enough of this limbo—it serves no one, least of all Barry himself.
