The SWPL has confirmed four further ScottishPower Women’s Premier League matches that have been selected for broadcast.
The games selected across Sky Sports, BBC ALBA, and BBC Sport Scotland are as follows:
Sky Sports will broadcast the first meeting of last season’s top two sides as Rangers host champions Celtic on Thursday 3 October. The round six match, rescheduled to October due to the teams’ recent involvement in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, could be an early marker in the race for the 2024/25 title. In their four league meetings last season, both sides were victorious once with the other two matches ending as a draw.
BBC ALBA have selected back-to-back Heart of Midlothian games as Eva Olid’s side host Rangers and then head to Glasgow to face Partick Thistle. The Jambos are currently fourth in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League, just three points behind Rangers at the top of the table. Brian Graham’s side have had a tougher start to the season with four points from their opening five matches.
Earlier on Sunday 22 September, BBC Sport Scotland will show Glasgow City against Hibernian. As historic rivals, City have enjoyed greater success in their recent matches but Grant Scott’s team have looked much improved this season and are currently unbeaten. Having drawn 0-0 with reigning champions Celtic in their last match, Hibs will hope to get another positive result.
Fiona McIntyre, SWPL Managing Director, said: “There are games across all three of our broadcast partners coming up, including the first meeting between Rangers and Celtic on Sky Sports. With a record number of fans attending the opening weekend of the season, we want to keep encouraging fans to head to SWPL matches or tune in to Sky Sports, BBC ALBA, and BBC Sport Scotland if you can’t be there in person.”
