For the first time ever in his career, Marcus Rashford will represent a club other than Manchester United.
The 27-year-old, who joined United aged seven, officially put pen to paper on his contract with Aston Villa on Sunday, with both sides confirming his switch via social media in the evening.
Rashford will spend the remainder of the campaign at Villa Park, after which the Midlands outfit retain the option to make his transfer permanent.
Villa remain in the Champions League and FA Cup, the former of which saw them progress straight to the round of 16 last week after finishing eighth in the first phase of the competition. In terms of the Premier League, they are still amongst the host of clubs battling for a European spot and currently sit just four points adrift of Manchester City in fourth.
It remains to be seen what exactly has gone on behind the scenes between Rashford and Ruben Amorim, but, as a product of Carrington, who’s devoted 20 years of service to his boyhood club, fans should wish him well in his future endeavours – wherever that may be.

There is, of course, a slim chance the forward returns to Old Trafford this summer and looks to revive his Red Devils career in 2025/2026 – and he may have just hinted at that in his first interview.
Pressed on why he joined the Villans this month, he told their social media team: “A club that’s in a good position in the league and pushing to get higher, still in the Champions League, ambitious manager, [and] great talent in the squad.
“I’ve had to choose somewhere where I feel like my style of football is suited to and can help them and help me rediscover and improve as a player.
“Obviously, it’s only short-term [that] I’m here, so I want to make the most of my time here, and the only way to do that is using my attributes and skillset to help the team.”
