kicker and Sky Germany reports that RB Leipzig is planning a fresh start in the summer, especially in regards to Marco Rose’s future.

The Leipzig native will be in charge for the game against Freiburg and for the rest of the season for the time being. After the 2-1 loss to Mainz, there were discussions between Marcel Schäfer, Mario Gomez and Jürgen Klopp over Rose’s future but a decision was made to continue with him in charge.

There is an internal dissatisfaction over the situation, but Leipzig wants to avoid an interim solution.

instead, they plan to fully reset the team in the summer. The current top candidate for the job to replace Rose is VfB Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeneß, who was previously a youth coach at the club. Hoeneß also has a release clause worth around €8m. However, Stuttgart’s head coach is only interested in moving to a club that has qualified for the Champions League.

Other managers on the list to replace Rose are Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner and Roger Schmidt, both of whom have previous experience in the Red Bull multi-club model.

Leipzig are currently sixth in the Bundesliga but are also in the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal where they face Stuttgart.
