Real Madrid’s plans for strengthening their right-back position in 2025 have become clearer recently, as the club’s top priority for this role is Trent Alexander-Arnold.

However, with the complexities surrounding his potential transfer, Real Madrid have also identified Diogo Dalot as a backup option, according to a report from Fichajes.

The 25-year-old Portuguese full-back, who currently plays for Manchester United, could offer a versatile solution to Madrid’s needs due to his ability to play on both sides of the defense and his attacking speed.

These are qualities that Carlo Ancelotti highly values.

Real Madrid need a right-back

The urgency to reinforce the defence has been intensified by the ongoing injury issues faced by Dani Carvajal, who is dealing with a serious knee problem.

Additionally, Lucas Vazquez, another right-back option, is nearing the end of his career, leaving Real Madrid with limited choices for this critical position.

With this in mind, the club’s directors are working hard to secure a deal with Alexander-Arnold, but they are also keeping Dalot in consideration if talks with the Liverpool star do not progress as planned.

Not as effective as TAA

Dalot may not have started the season strongly at Manchester United, but he remains a promising option. His experience on the international stage, combined with his ability to contribute to the attack, makes him a viable choice for Los Blancos.

Though he may not match the calibre of Alexander-Arnold, Dalot could still provide the team with solid performances in the right-back position.

As the transfer window moves forward, Real Madrid will need to act decisively to secure one of these key signings.

While Alexander-Arnold remains the club’s first choice, the uncertainty around his transfer situation means that Dalot remains an alternative.
