Federico Valverde might not always be the flashiest players on a football pitch but the midfielder has endeared himself to Real Madrid fans for his sheer commitment and dedication towards the club.

A permanent fixture in the team for a number of years now, the Uruguayan international is seen as a future club captain and it is not hard to see why.

Valverde is always ready to help the team in any way possible like he did this season by playing in the right-back position amidst an injury crisis or taking pain-killer injections to feature in the crucial game vs Manchester City.

Playing through discomfort in the last two games

Another indication of Valverde’s absolute dedication to help Real Madrid succeed has now come to the fore as journalist Ruben Martin reports the midfielder played in the last two matches despite dealing with physical discomfort.

Indeed, as per the report, Valverde was feeling discomfort at half-time during the Clasico against Barcelona last weekend but continued playing in spite of it.

The midfielder was very hurt after the game at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys and was far from being 100% fit for last night’s league game against Mallorca either.

However, with the team hit by a major injury crisis, Valverde once again played through his physical problems, even slotting in at right-back again amidst the absence of several players.

The 26-year-old midfielder has featured in a whopping 57 matches across all competitions for Real Madrid this season, missing only three games – two of them through injury.

This comes after he played 54 games last season, with Carlo Ancelotti resting him for only one match.

Without a doubt, Valverde will have a major role to play for Real Madrid under the new management of Xabi Alonso, who will be taking over the reins imminently.
