The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid have resigned themselves to missing out on the club’s leading transfer target for the January market.

That’s according to Relevo, who point towards Trent Alexander-Arnold as the player in question.

The name of defender Alexander-Arnold has of course dominated the headlines in Spain’s capital across the month to date.

This comes after confirmation was forthcoming that Real Madrid, amid a concerning dearth of options at right-back, had fast-tracked their efforts to bring in the Englishman.

After previously seeking out a free agent summer move, Los Blancos shifted their attentions towards a potential winter swoop.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then no such move appears to be on the cards over the coming weeks.

As per a report from Relevo:

‘Signing him now, contrary to what Ancelotti would like, is seen as practically impossible. Authoritative sources consulted by Relevo see no chance of bringing forward the deal to January.’
