Xabi Alonso continues to be the same coach who impressed everyone with his work at Bayer Leverkusen. His name remains strongly linked to Real Madrid, and speculation about his potential future at the club refuses to fade.
After securing the Bundesliga title last season, Leverkusen’s performances have dipped slightly this campaign. However, Alonso is still seen as the ideal candidate to take charge at Real Madrid whenever Carlo Ancelotti decides to step away.
Now, according to reports from MARCA, Alonso has yet to provide a definitive answer regarding his future despite rejecting offers from Liverpool and Bayern Munich last year.
It is said that Bayer Leverkusen are eager for him to remain, but Alonso has yet to commit. He prefers to carefully weigh his options, considering both logical reasoning and personal emotions before making any decision.
At Real Madrid, the club has always taken a measured approach when it comes to managerial decisions.
For more than a decade, their leadership has evaluated each season carefully, taking into account both current performances and future possibilities.

The expectations at Real Madrid remain sky-high, sometimes reaching excessive levels. Both the coach and the players know that every game, every decision, and even minor gestures can lead to praise or criticism.
However, history shows that the club usually waits until the end of the season before making any major coaching decisions.
Since November 2023, Alonso has been viewed as a potential successor to Ancelotti. Some reports even claimed that he had already agreed to take over, but these rumours have resurfaced repeatedly without any confirmation.
As in previous seasons, Real Madrid will wait until the campaign concludes before making any final decisions regarding the managerial position.
Despite all the speculation, Ancelotti still has the full backing of the club. However, only the results will determine the outcome, but for now, there have been no discussions or moves regarding a new manager.
As has been the case in past years, Real Madrid’s leadership will assess the situation at the right time, making a decision that best serves the club’s interests.
