Real Madrid had a surprise visitor at their training facilities earlier today as former captain and club legend Marcelo decided to catch up with his former teammates and manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The Brazilian left-back spent 16 years at the Spanish capital club, winning as many as 25 trophies before moving to Olympiacos in 2022, before eventually ending up at Fluminense, where he won the Copa Libertadores last year.

Ahead of Real Madrid’s trip to Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup, Marcelo caught up with the squad and manager Ancelotti, before interacting with the club’s media, discussing various matters, including Jude Bellingham.

On the Super Cup

“This meeting has been fantastic for me. It’s been a long time since the last time I was here, almost a year, and I’ve missed my home,” Marcelo started.

Discussing the upcoming Spanish Super Cup, the club legend added: “The team is looking very good. Madrid are always producing great work. Now they’re playing the  Spanish Super Cup and I wish them luck. Hopefully, they win it.”

“Thanks to Real Madrid I was able to win five Spanish Super Cups. It’s always great to play for Real Madrid. I’ve just spoken to the players and they look in very good shape and motivated for this tournament,” the Brazilian further stated.

Real Madrid will first face local rivals Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals of the Super Cup and Marcelo hoped that the team can get past Diego Simeone’s men, saying: “Hopefully it’ll be a nice game for the fans and I hope Madrid win.”

Jude Bellingham’s start to life as a Real Madrid player has been nothing short of mesmerising and Marcelo touched upon the Englishman’s meteoric rise so far, as he said:

“He’s my son Liam’s hero and he wanted to have his picture taken with him. He’s looking very good. He’s had a great start. Everybody knows that at Real Madrid  there’s always room for improvement, but he’s had a tremendous start, almost unbeatable.”

The iconic Brazilian also had some words about his compatriots Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo Goes, and Eder Militao, as he remarked:

“They are all doing very good and very happy. They’re getting better every season. Whenever I can I talk to Militão, Rodrygo and Vini Jr.  and I try to help them as much as I can.”

Finally, Marcelo went on to reveal that he spoke to Ancelotti before Fluminense’s Copa Libertadores triumph last year.

“I spoke to him before the Copa Libertadores final and said he was going to be supporting Fluminense. That’s why I wanted to give him the jersey I wore in the final because it was special for me and I know that all the Madrid fans were behind me.”
