Aurelien Tchouameni’s situation at Real Madrid is slowly but surely growing worrying, both from the player’s side and the club’s end.

The player himself wishes to stay at the institution for years to come but is aware that Carlo Ancelotti is his only supporter at present. He has been shown no respite despite filling in defence and playing out of position and is being scapegoated for defeats.

At Real Madrid, meanwhile, the club no longer rule out a sale in the summer should the right offer come in and his future has thus never been more uncertain.

Targeted by the elite

Los Blancos largely agree that Tchouameni has not quite hit the levels they expected when they splashed the cash on him. They are thus on the lookout for offers and Fichajes reveal that three of Europe’s elite see him as a target.

The French midfielder is currently being tracked by Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Liverpool as a potential signing and has become a key transfer target for all three clubs.

The Premier League, after all, has always appreciated Tchouameni and it is thus not surprising to see the two biggest English clubs in his pursuit. The question, however, is how far they are willing to go to sign him.

His contract at Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2028 and Real Madrid thus have the leverage over his sale.

A sale for a bargain price is thus ruled out and the club will push hard to maximise the returns from his sale, with a figure around €80 million rumoured.

A massive part of the club’s decision will also depend on his performance in the coming months. Given that David Alaba is close to a return, moreover, he could well be back playing as a pivot in the coming days.
