Following a spectacular display at the Santiago Bernabeu in the UEFA Champions League, AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders was immediately linked with a move to Real Madrid.

With Aurelien Tchouameni struggling to hit the level expected and reports of a departure in the summer doing the rounds, the Dutch midfielder was touted as a possible replacement for him.

However, despite the speculations of interest from Real Madrid, Reijnders is currently in talks over a new contract with AC Milan, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Reijnders has been with Milan for less than two years, having only moved to the club in the summer of 2023 from AZ Alkmaar.

The 26-year-old has become a key cog in the middle of the park for the Rossoneri, particularly in the ongoing season, with the midfielder racking up four goals and three assists from 14 matches in all competitions.

As such, even though his contract with the club runs until 2028, Milan are eager to offer him improved terms, especially with other top teams across Europe sniffing around.

Reijnders is capable of operating in a multitude of roles in midfield and is entering the theoretical peak years of his career, which has seemingly piqued the interest of Real Madrid.

However, any move for the Dutchman will not be materialising anytime soon. If they do indeed pursue his signing, it would likely take a huge transfer fee.
