Earlier in the week, Real Madrid were handed a major boost as star midfielder Dani Ceballos returned to group training after recovering from an injury layoff.

However, as Real Madrid approach the La Liga contest against Alaves this weekend, the midfielder remains a doubt as it appears he is yet to return to full fitness.

A recent report from AS has offered a comprehensive update on Ceballos’ fitness ahead of Real Madrid’s upcoming games against Alaves and Arsenal.

Ceballos to exercise caution

As per the report, Ceballos remain doubtful for games against Arsenal and Alaves due to uncertainty over his fitness.

Although the midfielder is back in training, both him and the club have agreed to proceed with caution, as they look to avoid a potential relapse.

Real Madrid, after all, have had a tough time with injuries this season and cannot afford another player aggravating his injury.

Ceballos, for his part, is keen on returning in time for the second leg tie against Arsenal. But his participation remains doubtful for now.

It must be noted that Ceballos is a former Arsenal player who is well aware of Mikel Arteta’s system, having played under him for two years.

However, as things stand, the Spaniard will require at least a week to return to 100% fitness.

That implies he might not be fully fit by the time Real Madrid host Arsenal at the Santiago Bernabeu. It also implies he might not be able to feature against Alaves, though it won’t be surprising to see him being included in the squad.

Real Madrid and Ceballos’ first priority is to avoid any fresh setbacks. And therefore, the club won’t rush the midfielder back into action, even if it takes 10 days for the player to return to full fitness.
