Real Madrid are taking proactive steps to secure the future of their key players, with Vinicius Jr. at the centre of their latest contract discussions.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the club has recognised the growing financial power of Saudi Arabia and is determined to protect its biggest assets from being lured away by lucrative offers.
In recent weeks, there has been significant speculation regarding Vinicius’ long-term future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, Romano has provided reliable insight into the situation, confirming that Real Madrid have already initiated talks with the Brazilian forward over a contract renewal.
While Vinicius’ current deal runs until 2027, the club does not want to take any risks, especially given the increasing financial threat posed by Saudi clubs, which are actively targeting top European talent.
The Saudi Pro League has made no secret of its ambition to attract the world’s biggest stars, and Vinicius is high on their list.
Since last summer, Saudi football leaders have been monitoring the Brazilian closely, exploring the financial aspects required to secure his signature.
Reports have even suggested that Saudi clubs are prepared to offer an astonishing €1 billion package over five years to convince him to make the move.

Given Vinicius’ marketability and on-field brilliance, they see him as the perfect face for their project, especially with the 2034 World Cup set to be hosted in Saudi Arabia.
Despite these external pressures, both Real Madrid and Vinicius are aligned in their vision for the future. The club is extremely satisfied with his development, and the player himself remains fully committed to continuing his journey in the Spanish capital.
While financial terms such as salary, bonuses, and signing fees will naturally be part of the negotiations, the priority is to ensure a contract structure that safeguards the club’s interests while securing Vinicius’ long-term stay.
To address this, Real Madrid made direct contact with Vinicius’ representatives three weeks ago, initiating discussions over an improved contract.
Two meetings have already taken place, with reports suggesting that they were highly productive and positive.
The focus now is on reaching an agreement that reflects Vinicius’ importance to the squad while maintaining the club’s wage structure.
Saudi Arabia remains keen on making a historic move for Vinicius, but they are also aware of the difficulties involved.
While they may be willing to spend an extraordinary sum, they understand that convincing Real Madrid and the player himself will be a monumental challenge.
For now, Vinicius remains firmly committed to Los Blancos, and Real Madrid are doing everything necessary to ensure that he stays at the club for the long term.
