The powers that be at Real Madrid have identified a new target amid their ongoing pursuit of defensive reinforcements.
It is of course common knowledge that securing fresh blood at the back has emerged as something of a priority at the Santiago Bernabéu with a view to the second half of the term.
This comes after long-term absentee Éder Militão was joined on the sidelines by David Alaba – who looks set to remain out of action for the remainder of the campaign.
Carlo Ancelotti, in turn, has been left with a gaping hole in the heart of his defence, a situation not at all helped by the suspension picked up by Nacho during the week.
The assumption, as a result, is that at least one new defender will ultimately make their way through the door in Spain’s capital during the winter transfer window.
And, as alluded to above, this evening, the identity of one potential option for Los Blancos has been revealed.
The info comes courtesy of Diario AS, who have confirmed that Florentino Pérez and co. are keeping a close eye on the development of Robert Renan.
Renan, for his part, is a highly-regarded Brazilian youth international, currently plying his club trade in Russia with Zenit St. Petersburg.
AS point towards the 20-year-old as being an ideal target for Real, owing to the fact that he could potentially be brought in on loan, with the option to buy.
This comes just days after claims spread in Spain that Juni Calafat, Madrid’s chief scout, is a keen admirer of Renan’s talents.
