Real Madrid have identified Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco as an alternative target to Alphonso Davies.
This according to Italian outlet FCInterNews. They report that Manchester United are also keen, and Inter are ready to offer Dimarco a new contract to ward off this interest.
Dimarco has emerged as one of the top fullbacks not just in Serie A but in all of European football.
Over the last few seasons, the 27-year-old has grown significantly, both for Inter and the Italian national team.
When he first returned to Inter, Dimarco was a backup to Ivan Perisic.
But the Italian international has truly made the starting role his own.
Inevitably, Dimarco’s stellar form has attracted transfer interest.
FCIN note that Manchester United are eyeing the 27-year-old up. They want to reinforce in wide areas for coach Ruben Amorim, and see Dimarco as an ideal player.
However, the outlet report, there is also the interest of Real Madrid to consider.
Los Blancos are keen to sign a new left-back.
Real’s priority target has long been Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies. And the Canadian’s current contract with Bayern runs out at the end of next June.
Therefore, Real could sign Davies on a free transfer next summer.
However, if Bayern are to convince Davies to instead stay and extend his contract, Los Blancos have other targets in mind.
One would be Theo Hernandez. Real could sign the Frenchman back from AC Milan.
However, for his part, Dimarco has little interest in leaving Inter. He is a Nerazzurri youth academy graduate, and a boyhood fan of the club.
Therefore, Dimarco is very happy staying where he is.
On the other hand, though, the Nerazzurri do want to send a clear message about Dimarco’s future by extending his contract.
There will be negotiations between Inter and Dimarco’s representatives in the coming months.
Currently, Dimarco earns around €4 million net per season. Inter are ready to offer him a new deal that would bump up his earnings to the region of Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, and Hakan Calhanoglu.
