Real Madrid continue to strengthen their youth ranks with the signing of promising talents across Spain to build stars for the future from within the club.

In that regard, journalist Jorge C Picon reports Real Madrid are set to make an exciting addition for the 2025/26 season in the form of Leon Westin, a 16-year-old midfielder currently playing for UD Las Palmas academy.

The ‘Kroos copy’

Westin will join Real Madrid this summer from the Canary Islands club. A left-footed midfielder who can also operate as a centre-back, he has drawn attention for his technical quality and tactical intelligence.

Described by those who have watched him closely as “a copy of [Toni] Kroos,” he is seen as one of the most promising profiles among his age group.

Despite interest from other Spanish and European clubs, it is Real Madrid who have secured his signature.

Westin currently plays for Las Palmas’ Cadete A team, but it remains to be seen whether Madrid will place him in the Juvenil C side (his age category) or accelerate his development by moving him into a higher division.

While the club typically prefer a gradual progression for their youth players, they have previously made exceptions for special talents.

The move reflects Real Madrid’s ongoing investment in La Fabrica, their academy system, which continues to be reinforced with high-potential recruits.

Westin is expected to be one of several youth arrivals this summer, with the club looking to strengthen the academy squads across all age levels while also remaining alert to standout prospects.

Real Madrid’s aim with Westin is clear: nurture his potential at Valdebebas and develop him into a professional footballer capable of reaching the highest level.
