Real Madrid star could be benched again vs Real Sociedad | OneFootball

The coaching staff at La Liga giants Real Madrid are giving consideration to affording a fresh rest to Federico Valverde in the club’s next outing.

That’s according to Diario AS, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

Midfielder Valverde, for his part, was afforded a rare day off from competitive duties over the weekend.

Dealing with a couple of niggling fitness problems, the Uruguayan international was left on the bench for the entirety of Real Madrid’s La Liga victory over Girona.

The assumption, in turn, was that Valverde would be restored to Los Blancos’ starting XI to face Real Sociedad in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night.

As per a report from AS, however, as much is far from certain:

‘Carlo Ancelotti is considering giving Fede Valverde another rest on Wednesday against Real Sociedad, sources in the Real Madrid dressing room told EFE.’
