Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has suffered an injury setback, it has on Wednesday been confirmed.

Frontman Mbappé, for those who may have missed it, set arm bells sounding across the Real Madrid fanbase on Tuesday night.

This came after the Frenchman, late in Los Blancos’ La Liga victory over Deportivo Alavés, requested a substitution.

Despite Mbappé having departed the pitch in what appeared to be at least some degree of discomfort, boss Carlo Ancelotti assured post-match that:

“Kylian Mbappé is fine. He’s a bit tired, and asked for the substitution to avoid risk.”

Safe to say, however, that the initial diagnosis of Real’s headmaster was some way off being accurate.

This comes amid confirmation that Mbappé, as alluded to above, has suffered an injury.

As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms:

‘Following tests carried out today by Real Madrid’s Medical Services on our player Kylian Mbappé, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg.’

As per Blancos insider Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, the 25-year-old is expected to miss the next three weeks of action as a result.

As much would mean Mbappé sitting out Real Madrid’s upcoming fixtures against all of Atlético, LOSC Lille, and Villarreal.
