Real Madrid star’s international return confirmed | OneFootball

Belgium head coach Rudi Garcia has on Friday confirmed the imminent return of Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois to the country’s national setup.

Goalkeeper Courtois, for his part, has not taken to the pitch in the colours of Belgium since all the way back in the summer of 2023.

Whilst his initial absence came owing to injury, the former Chelsea man announced in August of last year that he had no intention of lining out for the Red Devils so long as Domenico Tedesco remained in charge.

Dismissed from his role last month, though, Tedesco has since been replaced by Rudi Garcia.

And, after a recent round of talks between the pair, Courtois has already given the green light to a return to duty with Belgium under Garcia’s watch.

Speaking to L’Équipe, as cited by Fabrizio Romano, on Friday, Garcia confirmed:

“Thibaut Courtois returns to the national team. I met him in Madrid before Real Madrid-City. This is great news for Belgium.”
