Real Madrid will sign a new centre-back this summer to make up for the departure of Nacho Fernandez. Their primary target is Lille’s Leny Yoro, and the good news for Los Blancos is that they have edged closer to securing his signature.

As reported by Relevo, Lille have given up hope of receiving €60m for Yoro, their original asking price. Real Madrid had no intention of paying this amount for a player whose contract ends in 2025, and the Ligue 1 side have now caved – they are now prepared to accept €50m for the 18-year-old.

Right now, Real Madrid are willing to pay no more than €40m for Yoro, although the current €10m deficit could be made up with add-ons. Negotiations between Los Blancos and Lille have not yet started, although they would do so soon.

Yoro would be a top, top signing for Real Madrid, especially as he’d nail down a starter position for the next 10-15 years if he does arrive. Initially, he will be behind Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao and David Alaba in the pecking order, although he’d surely back himself to earn a starting spot quickly.
