According to a recent report from SPORT, Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr have identified Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger as a potential replacement for Aymeric Laporte.

Saudi clubs continue to show interest in Real Madrid players. Recently, there were attempts to sign Vinicius Jr., with meetings held between his representatives and Saudi officials.

However, Real Madrid were firm in their stance, demanding his full release clause of approximately €1 billion. Now, the focus has shifted to another key player in Carlo Ancelotti’s defence.

Rudiger on radar

Al-Nassr see Antonio Rudiger as their primary target to strengthen their backline should Laporte depart.

The Spanish centre-back is reportedly eager to return to European football and had already received several offers last summer. This has prompted Al-Nassr to prepare for a potential replacement in case he decides to leave.

The 32-year-old German defender is under contract with Real Madrid until the summer of 2026 and has become a vital component of their defensive setup.

With long-term injuries to Eder Militao and David Alaba, Rudiger has been the only fit first-team centre-back available to Ancelotti for much of the season.

His performances have been crucial in maintaining stability at the back, making him one of the most important figures in the squad.

Move unlikely

Given their current defensive struggles, it seems unlikely that Real Madrid would be willing to part ways with Rudiger.

Reports have also suggested that the club is actively looking to strengthen the position, with names like Dean Huijsen and William Saliba being linked as potential reinforcements.

Letting go of Rudiger in this scenario would leave Madrid even more vulnerable, making his departure improbable.

Despite Rudiger being Al-Nassr’s top choice, the Saudi club have also lined up an alternative. If they fail to secure the German’s signature, Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes is reportedly their backup option to replace Laporte.

This suggests that Al-Nassr are determined to strengthen their defence, whether with Rudiger or another high-profile defender.
