Carlo Ancelotti is treading a tightrope at Real Madrid and it is difficult to predict how long he will survive on the sidelines.
While Florentino Perez and Co. have not yet taken the definitive decision to sack him, the team’s performances so far this season do not leave much doubt in their minds.
In many ways, Ancelotti’s future will be decided by the game against Arsenal and the overall result in the UEFA Champions League. In any way, the heirarchy does have an option and it is none other than Xabi Alonso.
As relayed in a recent update by Fabrizio Romano, Alonoso’s dream is to coach Real Madrid. Moreover, it is also Los Blancos’ biggest aim to see the Spaniard as their next manager.

The club president is completely in love with Alonso and looks up to him for his ideas, style, Real Madrid legacy and several other factors. Needless to say, Los Blancos see him as their options 1, 2, 3, and 4 should they part ways with Ancelotti.
It is not only Real Madrid, however, who are putting in the hard work for Alonso has also done everything possible to stay free for Los Blancos’ call.
In fact, he was offered to coach European heavyweights including Liverpool and Bayern Munich last season but he turned down the chance keeping Real Madrid in mind.
As it stands, there appears to be a good chance the club legend will return to Madrid in the summer as the team’s new coach, but one simply cannot rule out Ancelotti in complicated situations. A comeback over Arsenal would change everything.
So far in his managerial career at Bayer Leverkusen, Alonso has overseen 135 games with a staggering 88 wins. He has lost just 18 games and averages 2.17 points per game.
