A recent report from Al Yaum newspaper in Saudi Arabia (h/t AS) reveals that Aymeric Laporte, a defender for Al Nassr, is looking to terminate his contract with the team to join Real Madrid.

The 30-year-old player, through his agent, is pushing to leave Al Nassr and this development has reportedly prompted an urgent meeting between Al Nassr’s sporting director Fernando Hierro, coach Luis Castro, and club president Al-Muhaidib.

At present, sources within the club, deny that any immediate actions are being taken.

Real Madrid, still reeling from the unexpected departure of Leny Yoro to Manchester United, are considering signing a new centre-back. While the club does not want to make any hasty decisions, Laporte is seen as a valuable option.

Laporte is not satisfied in the Middle East

Despite having two years left on his contract with Al Nassr, reports suggest that Laporte is not satisfied with the Saudi league and is eager to leave.

Real Madrid appeal to him, and manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly interested in the player. However, the challenge lies in Real Madrid’s reluctance to pay a transfer fee, meaning Laporte would need to negotiate his exit from Al Nassr at little to no cost.

It must be noted that Laporte joined Al Nassr in the summer of 2023 from Manchester City for €27.5 million.

Laporte wants to play for Real Madrid

At present, it is said that Laporte is thrilled about the prospect of playing for Real Madrid, where he would join a defensive lineup including Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, and Jesus Vallejo.

With Alaba recovering from a knee injury until at least November and uncertainty surrounding Vallejo’s performance, Ancelotti has given the green light for Laporte’s potential signing if he becomes available.

For Laporte to leave Al Nassr, he must reach a financial agreement that allows a free transfer, a challenging task given the Saudi club’s prideful stance on financial matters.

Despite this, he is eager to seize the opportunity to play for Real Madrid, even if it means accepting a lower salary. He signed a three-year contract with Al Nassr for €24 million annually, but he is willing to significantly reduce his salary and forgo the €48 million he is still owed.

For now, Ancelotti is patiently waiting, seeing Laporte’s signing as a promising addition. However, for this move to materialise, Al Nassr would need to soften their stance, a development that doesn’t seem imminent for now.
