Manchester City are not expected to create any ‘scares’ for La Liga giants Real Sociedad when it comes to their movements in the January transfer window.

The Premier League champions are expected to sound out potential reinforcements for their depleted squad during the upcoming January transfer window, with an acceptance that Guardiola’s side is in dire need of fresh legs.

Injuries and an all-round lack of options as well as form, in addition to ageing and tired legs, have caused significant problems for Manchester City, seeing them win just two of their last 14 matches across competitions.

Among the names to have been mooted in various sections of the media include two of the Premier League’s most highly-rated stars in Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

Further afield there is believed to be admiration in Atalanta’s Ederson, whilst Liverpool target from the previous summer transfer window, Martin Zubimendi also has firm admirers within the Etihad Stadium.

Now, as relayed by Estadio Deportivo, Real Sociedad sporting director, Roberto Olabe has weighed in with his thoughts and beliefs around the future of Zubimendi amid talk of expected Manchester City interest in 2025.

“There’s little peace of mind about the clauses (in his contract), but throughout this time Martín (Zubimendi) himself has shown us that above the clauses are the will,” Olabe said, as translated by Sport Witness.

He continued, “So far, we have seen how he has behaved, I don’t foresee any scares in January.”

While the winter market has been ruled out from both the side of the La Liga club and at the Etihad Stadium, there remains a possibility that Manchester City may be postponing an assault for the player until the longer and more excitable summer window.

It remains to be seen which of the January transfer window options are deemed realistic for the Etihad Stadium’s recruitment chiefs, with Txiki Begiristain believed to be leading the approach ahead of the reopening of the window in a few days time.
