With Mikel Merino (28) edging closer to joining Arsenal, Real Sociedad are already in advanced talks with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Carlos Soler (27), according to Fabrizio Romano.

PSG are set to realise a full revamp of their midfield this summer. While Joao Neves’ (19) deal is set to be completed later this week, the Capital club is targeting other profiles such as Joshua Kimmich (29) or Feyenoord’s Jerdy Schouten (27). In the departures, Renato Sanches is set to be included on Neves’ deal, and should join Benfica on loan with an option to buy. The former Portugal international could not be the only midfielder to leave the Capital club this summer, as Manuel Ugarte (23) is in Manchester United’s shortlist and Soler is gathering interest from Spain. Two years after arriving from Valencia CF, the former Spain international could return to La Liga.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Sociedad have made the signing of Soler their top priority if Mikel Merino’s deal to Arsenal is completed. The right-footed midfielder is also in talks with the Spanish outfit to find an agreement on personal terms. With PSG closing on Joao Neves’ (19) deal and looking to recruit another midfielder, Soler’s game time is likely to be considerably reduced, and he will not be retained by the Capital club. Last season, Soler took part in 28 games across all competitions but enjoyed only 11 starts.
