La Liga outfit Real Sociedad have this afternoon provided an update on the wellbeing of defender Álvaro Odriozola.
This comes after the 28-year-old set alarm bells ringing in San Sebastián this past weekend.
Upon Sociedad making the trip to high-flying Girona on Saturday, Odriozola was afforded just his third league start of what has proven another injury-hampered campaign.
In a remarkable piece of misfortune, however, inside the opening two minutes of action at the Estadi Montilivi, the former Real Madrid man was forced to hobble off.
After his studs were caught in the turf, Odriozola’s right knee jarred in nasty fashion, culminating in a swift substitution.
And, as alluded to above, on Monday, an insight into the full-back’s latest injury has been provided.
As per an official statement across Real Sociedad’s website and social media platforms:
‘Álvaro Odriozola suffered a hyperextension of his right knee during the Girona-Real Sociedad match. He has an injury to the lateral collateral ligament of said knee.’
Elsewhere on the injury front in Imanol’s squad, Sheraldo Becker has picked up a hamstring problem, whilst Carlos Fernández has undergone surgery on his right knee.
