Real Sociedad star sits out group training ahead of Sevilla clash | OneFootball

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga outfit Real Sociedad played no part in group training on Friday.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Martín Zubimendi as the player in question.

Spanish international Zubimendi for his part sat out on Thursday night, as Real Sociedad battled to a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Europa League.

The Basque outfit reported that as much came owing to a bout of illness, from which Zubimendi has since recovered.

And yet, the 26-year-old was not considered well enough to participate in group activities in San Sebastian on Friday morning.

As per MD:

‘The pivot from San Sebastian missed yesterday’s game due to illness, as the club announced, but he was also physically affected by the game in Barcelona, ​​in which he asked to be substituted.’

Whilst ensuing tests confirmed that no form of injury had been suffered, Zubimendi has nevertheless since struggled for fitness.

After being put through an individualised training session on Friday, the midfielder is therefore considered a doubt to play his part against Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday.
