Tijjani Reijnders wants Milan to ‘fight for titles’ after another brace to beat Empoli 3-0, while Youssouf Fofana reveals how he managed to avoid a costly yellow card.
The Rossoneri got back on track midweek with their 3-2 Champions League victory away to Slovan Liberec, but were feeling the pressure after back-to-back Serie A draws against Cagliari and Juventus.
This was a must-win game and they delivered a 3-0 result thanks to Morata’s early effort, followed by a brace from Dutch midfielder Reijnders, who now has six goals in 17 games this season between Serie A and the Champions League.
“This season is going very well for me, we have to keep pushing and we are not there yet,” Reijnders told DAZN.
Considering how far behind they are in the Scudetto race, albeit with a game in hand to be played against Bologna, are they still aiming for top spot?
“Of course we are thinking about it, because we want to fight for titles and the position where we are now is not what we want. It’s why we have to keep fighting and improving.”

Fofana was one yellow card away from suspension and there was the very real risk he would be forced to miss the showdown with Atalanta. How did he manage to avoid falling into that trap?
“It’s fine for me, we have to be careful all game, but if I go on the pitch and think about the yellow, I’ll probably get a yellow card,” said the former AS Monaco midfielder.
“It went ok, I will be there for the next game!”
Fofana was also asked if Milan still have time to stay in the Scudetto race after a rough start to the campaign.
“We have time to look at anything, whether it’s in Serie A or the Champions League. I hope we will keep getting better.”
