Josh Wilson-Esbrand (20), currently on loan at Stade de Reims from Manchester City, won’t play again in 2023 after dislocating his shoulder whilst on international duty.
Wilson-Esbrand has already suffered an injury whilst on international duty. The Manchester City loanee suffered an ankle injury during the September international break, which subsequently saw him miss three matches with Les Stadistes. This time, he suffered a dislocated shoulder playing for England U21s against Northern Ireland.
Speaking at a press conference, manager Will Still confirmed that Wilson-Esbrand will not play again until 2024. It is a blow for the young left-back, who has featured nine times for Reims so far this season, scoring once. However, in more positive news for Reims, Keito Nakamura is nearing a return. The Japanese international hasn’t played since the start of October due to an ankle sprain. He will not be in the group to face Stade Rennais but could face RC Strasbourg Alsace the following week, according to Still.
