Liverpool forward Harvey Elliott has struggled for regular game time this season under Arne Slot, and his situation has alerted a number of clubs.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Brighton and Borussia Dortmund are keeping tabs on the 21-year-old left-footed Liverpool attacker.
The 21-year-old has only managed seven substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.
In contrast, he played in 53 games in all competitions last season under Jurgen Klopp. His game time was restricted by injuries at the start of the campaign. And now, there is a possibility of an exit in the upcoming two transfer windows.
Elliott, who is on £40k-per-week wages at Liverpool, has already made over 125 appearances for the club since moving from Fulham at an early age.
He is a special talent, and Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton hailed him as a “different class”.
After impressing heavily last season, many had thought that Elliott would play a major role for Liverpool this season, but that has not happened.
He wasn’t playing regularly before he picked up an injury, and the situation hasn’t improved after he returned to the side.
There is still a lot of football left to be played this season, and if Elliott stays injury-free, he can still make big contributions.
Elliott is a versatile player who can be used as an attacking right-side midfielder or as a central midfielder. The problem for Elliott is that Slot hasn’t trusted him yet to start in a Premier League game, and it is unclear where he actually fits in.
This is a tricky situation for Liverpool. They rate him highly, and the club should use him properly. He needs confidence, and the only way he can build it is by playing regularly.
The problem for him is that Slot cannot drop Mohamed Salah from the starting line-up, nor can he drop the likes of Curtis Jones or Dominik Szoboszlai to include Elliott into the starting line-up.
