There's reportedly more bad injury news on the FC Augsburg front. Already without influential defender Keven Schlotterbeck for the medium term, it now appears as if Jess Thorup's Fuggerstädter will lose Finnish attacker Fredrik Jensen long-term to groin surgery. This is reported by the local Augsburger Allgemeine Zeitung.
Jensen featured prominently in Augsburg's first two league fixtures this season, though he hasn't started since the match-day-two loss against Heidenheim. The 33-times-capped international nevertheless featured in all Bundesliga fixtures under Thorup this year until the injury he returned from international duty carrying sidelined him against Freiburg.
The local Bavarian-Swabian newspaper reports that Jensen is scheduled for groin surgery on Thursday. Augsburg currently sit in 15th-place in the Bundesliga table after losing their fourth fixture of the season away at Freiburg on Saturday afternoon. Only VfL Bochum and the two promoted sides - Holstein Kiel and FC St. Pauli - have gotten off to worst starts this year.
