According to a report from MARCA, Barcelona will need to put forward close to €20 million to sign Almería’s talented full-back, Marc Pubill.
The Catalan club’s interest in the 21-year-old has been well documented, but financial constraints have repeatedly stalled any potential move.
Now, with an agreement reportedly in place between the player and Barcelona, the transfer could finally materialise—pending the final details of the deal.
Pubill has been a subject of transfer speculation ever since his arrival at Almeria. Last summer, he was on the brink of joining Atlanta, only for the move to fall through at the last moment.
During the final days of the summer 2024 window, Barcelona also explored the possibility of signing him, but their well-documented struggles with Financial Fair Play made the operation impossible.

Now, recent reports suggest that discussions between the two clubs have progressed positively.
Sources close to the player have not denied the ongoing negotiations, though they maintain that Pubill is fully focused on finishing what has been a challenging season with Almeria.
The right-back, however, is well aware of Barcelona’s growing interest and has already spoken to those close to him about a possible switch to the Camp Nou in the summer.
While Pubill has a contract with Almeria until 2029 and a €40 million release clause, his actual market value is far more accessible.
This is because Atalanta and Almeria had agreed on a €15 million fixed fee plus €5 million in variables last summer, and Barcelona will have to match a similar offer to finalise the deal.
Almeria, knowing that 25% of the capital gain from the transfer will go to Levante, are eager to extract the highest possible fee from negotiations.
If Barcelona manage to secure the young right-back, it could be a crucial signing for the club as they look to strengthen their defensive options.
