According to Sky Sport Italia, RC Lens have accepted a Juventus offer to loan defender Kevin Danso for €2.5m plus €1.5m in add-ons.

The centre-back was targeted after an injury ruled Pierre Kalulu out of action for at least three weeks, although it will possibly be more after he pulled up during last night’s 2-0 Champions League defeat to Benfica.

Already missing Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal for the rest of the season following anterior cruciate ligament knee surgery, they needed to find some alternatives, as Manuel Locatelli was forced to cover in the back four yesterday.

Juventus needed right conditions for Danso

Danso had long been on the Juventus radar, but Sportitalia noted that the club was only open to a loan with obligation to buy at the end of the season.

That changed today, as despite interest from Rennes and Wolverhampton Wanderers, the player would prefer Juventus and has accepted the terms.

Sky Sport Italia and Fabrizio Romano both report this is a dry loan, meaning there is no option to buy.

While Gianluca Di Marzio insists Lens have already accepted these terms, other French sources claim it is not quite done yet.

Juve are prepared to pay €2.5m for the six-month loan, plus a further €1.5m in potential performance-related bonuses.

It is similar to the agreement that was struck with Chelsea for another defender, Renato Veiga, at a cost of €4m with the Stamford Bridge side covering his salary.
