After two years of heavily investing in the club, Flamengo have been attempting to slow down and balance their books due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Flamengo have not signed any new players for the 2021 season and after saying goodbye to Gerson, it appears Michael will be leaving the club this summer as well.
According to Esmeraldino, Flamengo have already informed Michael’s former club Goiás that they will accept Al-Ain’s offer for the 25-year-old.
Al-Ain have reportedly bid €6.5m (R$40m) for the striker. Flamengo would receive €5.2m of that sum as they own 80% of the player’s economic rights.
Furthermore, the other 20% would be divided between the player himself (15%) and Goiás, who would receive €325,000 (R$2m) thanks to their 5% sell-on clause.
Unfortunately, after starring for Goiás, Michael has not been able to repeat his scintillating form in Rio, scoring just six times in 60 appearances after arriving for a €7.5m fee in January 2020.
