Mateo Retegui is now eager for his debut Champions League goal after consolidating his Serie A Capocannoniere status, while Ederson also aims high for Atalanta.
La Dea continued their astounding form with a seventh Serie A win on the bounce, emerging 3-1 victors from the Stadio Tardini in Parma with goals from Retegui, Ederson and Ademola Lookman.
Matteo Cancellieri had got the Ducali back into it straight after the restart, but after two disallowed goals, Lookman managed to seal it at the back post.
“It is very important for a striker’s confidence to keep scoring, but I the most important thing is for the team to win. It was an excellent first half, the second a bit less, but we have to keep fighting,” Retegui told Sky Sport Italia.
This was his 12th Serie A goal of the season, but the Italy international is yet to find the net in the Champions League.
“The team is playing an excellent level of football in Italy and in Europe, so we have to keep going. I have not scored in the Champions League yet, but I hope to change that soon. I want to thank the fans who came here in this cold and we dedicate the victory to them.”

This is the best start to a season in Atalanta’s history, as they amassed 28 points and scored 34 goals in the opening 13 rounds.
They are currently joint top of the table with Inter awaiting the Sunday games.
Ederson was named Man of the Match by the Lega Serie A and commented on their ambitions.
“We want to keep going higher, we are up there and must try to win every game we can. The team has to maintain that belief and keep going,” the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.
The Brazilian is suspended for Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Young Boys, so gets a rare rest.
“It is a big match in Europe too, sadly I won’t be able to play in it, but I trust my teammates and hope they will do well.”
