Simone Inzaghi will aim to ease Lautaro Martinez back to his best ahead of the Champions League final between PSG and Inter Milan.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, report that the Argentine will aim to use Inter’s final Serie A match of the season against Como as a springboard to the final.

At the moment, Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is out with an injury.

The 27-year-old suffered an elongation of his thigh flexor muscles in the first leg of Inter’s Champions League semifinal tie against Barcelona.

That was not a particularly serious injury. Martinez has not suffered a strain or tear.

However, it was a significant enough problem to force Martinez off at halftime of that match.

Nevertheless, the Inter captain rushed back for the second leg. He was far from 100% for that match. But naturally, the importance of the match meant that Martinez gave everything to be on the pitch.

Now, Lautaro Martinez is on the sidelines recuperating.

The Inter captain had the desired effect in the second leg against Barcelona. He scored Inter’s opener, and then won the penalty for their second goal.

However, eventually Martinez had to come off during the second half.

The 27-year-old had aggravated his muscle issue by playing in the high intensity match.

Accordingly, it was little surprise that Martinez was unavailable against Torino last weekend.

Moreover, the Gazzetta reports, Martinez will also miss this Sunday’s Serie A match against Lazio.

However, the newspaper predicts, the Inter captain will make his return to the squad for Inter’s final match of the campaign, away to Como.

The Inter captain won’t likely start that match. However, he will aim to get some minutes in his legs.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi will be using the Como match as a platform for Martinez to build match fitness ahead of the all-important Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the month.
