Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram had to come off as a precaution after the first half of today’s Supercoppa Italiana clash with Atalanta.

Italian outlet FCInterNews, report that the reason for the Frenchman’s exit was a slight strain to the adductor muscles in his left thigh.

Striker Thuram was in the Inter starting eleven for this evening’s Supercoppa Italiana semifinal against Atalanta.

The 27-year-old lined up alongside Lautaro Martinez in the Nerazzurri’s usual first-choice attacking partnership.

However, Thuram was not able to see out the entire match.

The Frenchman did play the entire first half. Referee Daniele Chiffi did not add any time on to the end of the half, so he featured for a total of just 45 minutes.

However, at halftime Thuram came off. Iranian international striker Mehdi Taremi took his place in attack.

According to FCIN, the reason for Thuram coming off was not a tactical decision by Inter coach Simone Inzaghi.

Rather, there was an injury scare for the France international.

According to FCIN, Thuram was feeling a slight strain in the adductor muscles in his left thigh.

Therefore, Inter coach Inzaghi decided not to take any further risks with Thuram.

The Frenchman will undergo further tests with the Inter medical staff in the coming days,
